Where has the first-ever G7 Defence Ministers’ meeting held in October 2024?

The G7 Defence Ministers met for the first time in Naples, Italy, on 19 October 2024.

The meeting was hosted by Italian defence minister Guido Crosetto.

Italy holds the rotating presidency of the G7 for 2024.

The G7 consists of Italy, Germany, France, the UK, Japan, Canada, and the US.

In their joint declaration, the G7 called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The G7 also called for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

The G7 ministers supported Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
